Working with the VCH

Since it was founded in 1899, the VCH has been the standard bearer for English local history. Staff and volunteers are responsible for researching and writing the history of every historic parish in the country, on a county by county basis.

To date, we have completed work in thirteen counties, we have work ongoing in another sixteen, and altogether we have written parish histories of around 3,500 parishes

We are always looking for volunteers to work with us to maintain and eventually complete this mammoth task.

Have you ever thought of working with the VCH?

If not, are you, or your local or family history group, the people to write a parish or town history? Volunteers are always welcome to work with the VCH on parish or town histories, or through the paperback series and the Explore website.
