The seminar welcomes all those who are interested in the relationship between local and national history and who wish to share ideas, viewpoints and work in progress. It seeks to make an original contribution to local and regional history by drawing upon the long-established national resources of the VCH and co-operating with participants from universities, record offices, local history societies and heritage organisations, as well as with those engaged in independent research.

We meet every other Tuesday at 5.15pm in the Ecclesiastical Room of the IHR.
The programme for 2006-7 begins on Tuesday 17th October.
This year’s programme will include papers from Dr. Keith Grieves (Kingston University) on ‘Leith Hill. Landscape as a refuge and resource in the First World War’, Dr. Spencer Dimmock (EPE, Exmoor) on ‘Continuity and Change on Exmoor’, and Kathryn Beresford on ‘Men of Kent’. Other speakers will include Sarah Webster (Nottingham), Dr. James Lee (VCH) , Dr. Gill Cookson (VCH) and Dr. Mandy Richardson (Winchester). Full details will be published shortly.
