Editing and Peer Review Process
Peer Review
Each book is peer reviewed by external experts in the relevant area(s) of study, who are unpaid and remain anonymous. These are usually historians and archaeologists working in universities, to whom we are indebted for the time they give and the improvements they suggest.
VCH Editorial Board
All EPE publications are edited by the VCH Editorial Board, including:
· Paperbacks
· Explore website

The VCH Editorial Board meets monthly to discuss book plans, draft manuscripts, web content and resources for schools. Each EPE county project is assigned a lead editor, who is responsible for communicating with the county authors and editors on a regular basis and deciding when draft text and images should be reviewed by the board. All manuscripts are signed off by the VCH Executive Editor.
