Cumberland
Status: Complete, 2 volumes produced
Work begun under the editorial control of R.S. Ferguson, a distinguished local historian who planned a four-volume history, with himself as editor and contributor. He died in 1900 before any of the volumes were printed and his place was taken by Canon James Wilson, vicar of Dalston, a medievalist and productive scholar, who brought two volumes to completion in 1901 and 1905. They are still available to purchase. Work is currently needed to update these volumes, and to complete the topographical volumes.
