Cornwall

Status - Active, 2 volumes published

Volume I of VCH Cornwall, published in 1906 was the only completed volume until work restarted in the county in 2002.

Since then the Cornwall VCH has completed two England's Past for Everyone projects, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and produced two paperback books;  'Cornwall and the Cross: Christianity 500-1560' and 'Cornwall and the Coast: Mousehole and Newlyn' and the second volume of the red book series, published in late 2010.

Whilst awaiting funding for the next project, to be based in the 'clay country', work has begun on a 'Parish Template'. Under the guidance of two experienced retired archivists a team of volunteers has been trained to extract information from probate records held in Cornwall Record Office.

The project has now moved on to cataloguing leases, and extracting information from the parish registers.
