Derbyshire

Status: Active, 2 volumes published

Two volumes were published in the early 20th century, Volume I (1905) and Volume II (1907) before a cessation of VCH activity in the county.  Work formally restarted in 2002 and between 2005 and 2010, VCH Derbyshire was part of the England's Past for Everyone project.  As a result, two paperback volumes were published; Bolsover: Castle, Town and Colliery and Hardwick: A Great House and its Estate.

Derbyshire VCH is actively researching parishes and townships in southern, western and north-eastern Derbyshire. We are currently actively drafting text for the first of our hardback sets of parish histories. This book will concentrate on parishes in the Bolsover area and we have now begun to upload  draft text to the Work in Progress section of this site.

Texts are accessible either as PDF files or as Word Documents. (For best results, view Word documents in 'Print Layout' mode). Use the back arrow (top left) to return to the main website.

For permission to reproduce any section, or to make any comments contact the Derbyshire County Editor philip.riden@nottingham.ac.uk

Citations in printed works should be to: VCH Derbyshire, online text-in-progress (parish-name, date).

These texts have not yet been formally peer-reviewed.
