VCH Somerset Partnership Launch

28 February, 2013 (All day)
Display of VCH Somerset books in the Great Hall

On Thursday 28 February 2013 a buffet with presentations and displays took place in the Great Hall of Taunton Castle, now part of the Museum of Somerset to launch the VCH Somerset Partnership. People from all over the county including colleagues from the Somerset Heritage Service were joined by VCH colleagues from other counties. They enjoyed an excellent buffet supper followed by a series of presentations and talks. Mary Siraut, the County Editor spoke of the history and recent work of the Somerset VCH, Professor Mick Aston enthused about the VCH and its importance for the history of England, Elizabeth Williamson, Executive Editor of the VCH spoke of her hopes for the partnership and Tom Mayberry, Head of the Heritage and Library services in Somerset gave a presentation on the importance of Taunton and its history, which it is hoped will be the next VCH project. Several people signed up for the national and our proposed Somerset newsletters by email. Do contact us if you would like your email added to the list.
