Where to Buy
The publisher of new VCH red volumes distributor of back stock is Boydell and Brewer. You can visit their website and buy volumes online by clicking here. If you don't know which volume you are interested in, or want details on whether volumes are in print, you can visit our Red Book Series page where you will find details of all of the volumes published by the VCH beginning with the most recent title, which, when you find the volume for you, will link you directly to a page on the Boydell and Brewer website where you can purchase the book. Additionally each county site includes details of the volumes published in that county set. For our users in the United States: Boydell and Brewer have a North American division which can be contacted using the email address boydell@boydellusa.net
VCH Volumes Online
A large number of the VCH volumes have been digitised and can be consulted in full and free of charge at British History Online. Simply navigate to the Local History section of the site to access a list of available VCH volumes, or alternatively perform a free text search for the area or place of interest to you.
Out of print volumes and where to find them
London:
If you can visit London or are based there, there is a complete set of VCH volumes with corrigenda at the Insitute of Historical Research Library in Senate House, Malet St, WC1E 7HU
Visit www.history.ac.uk to learn more about the IHR library which does have conditions of membership and is not open to the general public.
There are copies of volumes in the British Museum's reading room and in the British Library .
