VCH Wiltshire to feature on Who Do You Think You Are?
9 August, 2013 (All day)
VCH Wiltshire is very excited to reveal that it will be making its television debut later this month, when Assistant Editor Dr Alex Craven will feature in BBC1's Who Do You Think You Are? Alex met with Nick Hewer at the Wiltshire & Swindon History Centre to discuss aspects of his family's Wiltshire past. Nick is of course already very familiar to television audiences as the presenter of Countdown, and as Lord Sugar's right-hand man on The Apprentice.
Nick, a native of Wiltshire, enjoyed looking through VCH Wiltshire's volumes, especially those relating to his hometown of Swindon. Our most recent volume, covering Cricklade & its Environs, included one of his former schools, whilst the Swindon volume held many memories for him, including a photograph of a cottage he had once tried to buy.
Besides writing parish histories for VCH Wiltshire - most recently in the Deverill valley - Alex is an expert in the history of seventeenth-century Britain, and has published several articles on the subject.
To learn more about Nick's controversial ancestors, tune in to watch Who Do You Think You Are? at 9pm on Wednesday 28 August, on BBC1.
