Derbyshire Summer Walks - 26 Jun and 3 Jul

12 June, 2019 (All day)

As in previous years the Trust has arranged a couple of guided walks around places in Derbyshire whose history we have been working on.  Each walk will begin at 7pm.  All members and friends are very welcome to come along.

Wednesday 26 June - Hasland

Discover more about the history of Hasland by joining a guided walk of the area.  At first sight, Hasland appears to be a Victorian and later suburb of Chesterfield of limited historical interest.  In fact, like everywhere, it has a history reflected in surviving buildings.  This walk will bring out its distinctive character and explain how the settlement has evolved into the modern village.  Meet outside the Lucas Almshouses on Mansfield Road, in the centre of the village shopping area, where there is easy parking.  Lead by Philip Riden.

Wednesday 3 July - Crich

A walk around this Derbyshire village, subject of a local history project by Dudley Fowkes.  Both the medieval and the later industrial history will be discussed.  Lead by Mary Wiltshire.  Meet at the Church [grid reference: SK348546].  Parking is available on the street.

Note: The last Chesterfield Local History session of the season will be held on Wednesday 19 June.
