Buckminster and Sewstern: our latest paperback

Buckminster and Sewstern book launch

It was wonderful to see so many residents and former residents of Buckminster and Sewstern and others gathered in Buckminster Village Hall for the launch of our latest paperback. This is a fascinating history of two contrasting villages, Buckminster and Sewstern, which were joined together within a single parish for most of their history. Completely different economic and social profiles, which strech back many centuries, add a perhaps unexpected layer to this rich and varied history of a parish in rural north-east Leicestershire. Displays and a rolling slide-show illustrated some of the themes which can be found in the book. Leicestershire VCH Trust trustee Gordon Arthur, and Dr Pam Fisher, who led the research and wrote the text, provided an introduction to the work of the Trust and the contents of the book.

Copies are available to purchase through this website, or contact Leicestershire VCH at 5 Salisbury Road, Leicester, LE1 7QR (or email us at leicsvch@le.ac.uk) for details of our 'early bird' discount offer.
