Launch of volume VII

On Friday 25 October 2013 the latest VCH Northamptonshire volume (VII) on Corby and Great Oakley was launched. The event, held in the Council Chambers of The Cube in Corby, proved popular, with an audience keen to hear the second of that year's Marc Fitch Lectures, as well as to show their support for VCH work in the county. Professor Christopher Dyer spoke on the topic of Corby, Northamptonshire and Beyond: The History of Industry in the Countryside, a lecture which drew together the themes of rural industry, settlement and landscape change whilst citing the Corby experience as detailed in Volume VII.

The lecture, generously sponsored by the Marc Fitch Fund, was followed by refreshments and the formal launch of Volume VII. Lord Boswell of Aynho, the current Chairman of the VCH Northamptonshire Trust, officially launched the volume and presented a copy to Lord Naseby, his predecessor as Chair of the Trust, before Matthew Bristow spoke on behalf of VCH Central Office and the National Project. Lord Boswell concluded the launch by thanking the key funders, The Francis Coales Trust and Northamptonshire County Council, before everyone was given another chance to buy a copy of the volume from the series publishers, Boydell & Brewer.

Copies are available now to purchase directly from the publisher.
