STAPLEFORD

VCH Volume:
Nottinghamshire Vol III

Stapleford ancient parish occupies 1,253  acres on the western edge of Nottinghamshire. It is bounded on the west by the parishes of Sandiacre  and Stanton-by-Dale (Derbs.) on the north by Trowell, on the east by Bramcote and Chilwell and on the south by Toton. The boundary on the west is formed by the river Erewash, the northern boundary by a small brook, the eastern boundary  by Coventry Lane, Ewe Lamb Lane, Baulk Lane and hedgerow, and the southern boundary also by hedgerows. In 1993 there was an adjustment of the boundary when land to the west of the present course of the Erewash was transferred to Sandiacre.
