History and Place Somerset: St Mary Magdelene's Church, Taunton

The church of St Mary Magdalene in the centre of Taunton with its landmark tower contains much of interest. The church was virtually rebuilt in the late 15th and early 16th century and very little of the previous building survives. Despite several enthusiastic restorations the church remains essentially a great Perpendicular town church.
