History and Place Somerset: Watchet

Watchet is an ancient port town in the parish of St Decuman's. It lies between Bridgwater and Minehead on the Bristol Channel. A thriving harbour in the 10th century, it played a vital part in Somerset's iron ore production in the 19th century. It now houses a modern marina within the old harbour walls.
