History and Place Somerset: Queen Camel

The church at Queen Camel has a splendid collection of medieval and 19th-century carving including several fabulous beasts. Some perform a useful service as gargoyles, throwing rain water away from the building. Others are purely decorative or were possibly intended to fend off evil influences and deter would be wrongdoers.
