Sixteenth-century wood carving in Molland church.
Although Exmoor is regarded as primarily agricultural many men and women have practised trades and crafts there. Shops, smithies, workshops, mills and alehouses were found in many communities. Clothworkers and building workers, butchers and cider makers, tailors and dressmakers, shoemakers and saddlers have been joined in modern times by mechanics and chefs.
