Samuel Hook (1797-1866)

In 1852, Samuel Hook, with his wife Anna Maria and their five children moved from Chalford, Gloucestershire to Tovil, Maidstone, where Samuel took a partnership in the paper mill. Two years later Samuel Hook, and his son Charles, took over Snodland papermill. The paper mill at Snodland had been active for more than 100 years before and had mixed fortunes in preceding years.
