IHR Winter Conference 8-9 February 2018

‘Home: new histories of living’ is the theme of the Institute of Historical Research’s 2018 Winter Conference (Thursday and Friday, 8-9 February). The Conference brings together leading researchers to explore the history of domestic life. Plenary and panel sessions examine historical reconstructions, the history of individual rooms, gender and home, and visions of idealized life. Special attention will be given to new methods for researching histories of ‘Home’. A small number of bursaries are available for Early Career Researchers.

Conference speakers include Alison Blunt, Elizabeth Darling, Alistair Fair, Jane Hamlett, Vanessa Harding, Owen Hatherley, Sara Pennell, Catherine Richardson, Lynne Walker and Sonia Solicari.

The Winter Conference is preceded by the annual IHR / Historical Research Lecture, given this year by Dr Tristram Hunt on ‘V&A: a museum of the home and the world’ (6pm Weds 7 February).

Full details of the Winter Conference and the Lecture, and how to book, are available on website of the Institute of Historical Research: www.history.ac.uk
