New Biography of Walter Rye (1843-1929): Topographer, Sportsman and Norfolk's Champion

Christopher Kitching, former Chairman of the Victoria History Trust and longstanding member of the VCH Advisory Committee has recently published a new biography of Walter Rye, the enigmatic Victorian sportsman, antiquarian and champion of his ancestral county, Norfolk.  Christopher's new biography; A Passion for Records, is drawn directly from Rye's own archive and writings and gives a fascinating glimpse into everyday Victiorian life.  It also details Rye's, at times, stormy relationship with the VCH for whom he undertook some work during the early years of the Norfolk project.   A Passion for Records is available now from Troubadour Publishing
