Parham House, Sussex

Parham House

Table of Contents:

Theme: Tudors

This teaching material is designed to explore wealthy Tudor life through the local history study of Parham House. The aim of the material is to show that country houses are not just case studies of architectural history, but also social history. The material can be taught in its entirety, or as separate sessions incorporated in other curriculum areas; it has many opportunities for cross-curricular links with English, Art, Drama, Science, Geography and ICT. Ideally the material would be taught in conjunction with a visit to a Tudor property, like Parham House - this unit of material pomotes learning outside the classroom.

This unit of teaching material was written by Juliette Allaway.
The material was supported by historical research for the England's Past for Everyone publication Parham: An Elizabethan House and its Restoration.
